My final thesis project focuses on how music plays an influential role in pushing and furthering the rhetoric and sentiments surrounding social movements. My project is a video compiled of clips from the Civil Rights Movement in the 60’s, as well as our current BLM movement. The audio overlaying the project’s visual component will consist of a sound mash (mix and mastered by me) of old and contemporary hip-hop songs that reflect both the CRM and BLM agendas.
