The Book of Bashment

“The Book of Bashment” is a short experimental video aimed to portray movement as epistemology. Black body in movement is the Black body experiencing joy. Collecting footage from several old BSU and PASA-ran gatherings, this video aims to create metaphors of Black joy being timeless, beautiful, and essential. The experimental poetic video portrays Black joy as “bashment”, a Caribbean term for unapologetic attitudes. “The Book of Bashment” compiles moments where unabashed Black bodies move freely and joyously in order to add loving representations of Black bodies in the media.
